For the first time, Samsung is bringing flat OLED screens to its Odyssey gaming monitor lineup.

Samsung today showed off two new monitors that will appear at next week’s CES in Las Vegas. The Odyssey lineup has featured a mix of curved and flat screen monitors, but the flat panels relied on LED technology instead of the more cutting-edge, higher-quality OLED.

That changes with the Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey OLED G6, which are designed to offer clear and high contrast visuals for gamers. Samsung says the G8 is the company’s first monitor to feature a flat, 32-inch OLED screen with a 3,840-by-2,160 resolution. The G8 offers a high 240HZ refresh rate, along with a 0.03-millisecond response time.

Meanwhile, the Odyssey OLED G6 packs a smaller screen at 27 inches and a 2,560-by-1,440 resolution. But on the plus side, the G6 offers a higher refresh rate at 360Hz, while offering the same 0.03-millisecond response time.

The two monitors will arrive alongside an upgraded Odyssey OLED G9, a monitor that features a much larger, 49-inch curved screen. We reviewed last year’s model and gave it an outstanding score for its exceptional display quality.

The upgraded Odyssey OLED G9 now comes with a Multi Control feature that “allows users to seamlessly transfer images and/or text between their Samsung monitor and other Samsung devices—including their Galaxy Book, tablet or phone—for a smoother, more efficient work process using their mouse and keyboard," Samsung says.

The vendor adds that all three monitors support “OLED Glare-Free technology,” a VESA-certified Display HDR True Black 400, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The products also come with two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub, and a DisplayPort 1.4 input.

There’s no word on pricing or a launch date. But Samsung might reveal more at next week’s CES. Stay tuned for our coverage.

My Experience

I've been a journalist for over 15 years. I got my start as a schools and cities reporter in Kansas City and joined PCMag in 2017, where I cover satellite internet services, cybersecurity, PC hardware, and more. I'm currently based in San Francisco, but previously spent over five years in China, covering the country's technology sector.

Since 2020, I've covered the launch and explosive growth of SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service, writing 600+ stories on availability and feature launches, but also the regulatory battles over the expansion of satellite constellations, fights with rival providers like AST SpaceMobile and Amazon, and the effort to expand into satellite-based mobile service. I've combed through FCC filings for the latest news and driven to remote corners of California to test Starlink's cellular service.

I also cover cyber threats, from ransomware gangs to the emergence of AI-based malware. In 2024 and 2025, the FTC forced Avast to pay consumers $16.5 million for secretly harvesting and selling their personal information to third-party clients, as revealed in my joint investigation with Motherboard.

I also cover the PC graphics card market. Pandemic-era shortages led me to camp out in front of a Best Buy to get an RTX 3000. I'm now following how the AI-driven memory shortage is impacting the entire consumer electronics market. I'm always eager to learn more, so please jump in the comments with feedback and send me tips.

The Best Tech I've Had:

  • My first video game console: a Nintendo Famicom
  • I loved my Sega Saturn despite PlayStation's popularity.
  • The iPod Video I received as a gift in college
  • Xbox 360 FTW
  • The Galaxy Nexus was the first smartphone I was proud to own.
  • The PC desktop I built in 2013, which still works to this day.
