Buying Guide: Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U

It's big, but it's fast. Providing the speediest way to get on Verizon Wireless's EV-DO Rev A Internet network, the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U modem gets our Editors' Choice.

The 595U is a chunky (3.5-by-1.5-by-0.6-inch) silver-and-black dongle with a USB plug that tucks into the side for travel. When you plug it into a USB port on a PC or a Mac, its tiny power indicator lights up. (The only other light on the device is another tiny LED showing that data service is available.) The 595U is all modem: Unlike its competitors—Verizon's UM150 and Novatel's U727—it doesn't have a built-in microSD card reader.
