Windows Phone diehards have seen their handset options reduced to a trickle lately, and few would have guessed that LG would be behind the latest release. Alas, those awaiting a new flagship-level smartphone can continue holding their breath—the $120 (off-contract) Lancet on Verizon Wireless boasts few bells or whistles. It's essentially a Windows-based retread of the Android-powered LG Tribute, bearing a strikingly similar design and an entry-level spec sheet. The Lancet is a serviceable, budget-friendly option that rounds out Verizon's Windows Phone lineup, offering basic performance at a low price to complement the midrange Lumia 735 and high-end HTC One (M8) Windows.

Design, Features, and Call Quality

Don't expect any polarizing leather trim or unique geometry here—the all-plastic Lancet is about as nondescript as smartphones come. Think Nexus 5, not LG G4. At 5.11 by 2.55 by 0.42 inches (HWD) and 5.05 ounces, the Lancet feels a bit squat, but fits comfortably in the hand. There's a big bezel below the display, which accommodates a large LG logo, but is otherwise unsightly wasted space.
