We’ll have to wait a bit longer than initially planned for Apple Intelligence.

In his weekly PowerOn newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said Apple will hold off on rolling out its new AI features until a software update in October, a few weeks after the initial launch of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, which will be released in September.

Apple plans to make the software available as soon as this week for developer testing through the betas of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1.

Apple Intelligence is expected to add a number of AI features to the iPhone and iPad, including things like web page and voice note summaries, as well as the integration of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

All of the Apple Intelligence features are also not expected to drop at once. According to Gurman, Apple plans to roll out the full set of AI features through multiple updates to iOS 18 over the course of year and through the beginning of 2025.

A fourth beta of iOS 18 was released to developers last week and the final version is expected in the fall with the launch of the iPhone 16.
