Nintendo is adding a third optional subscription to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, increasing the monthly cost to nearly $12 if you want access to all content and features.

According to Nintendo, the Android and iOS game is suitable for all ages, but that hasn't stopped multiple premium subscriptions and an in-game currency (Leaf Tickets) forming part of the experience. Now the latest update to the game (version 5.0) introduces a number of new features detailed in the video below, but also paves the way for a third premium subscription option.

The three subscriptions form part of a "Pocket Camp Club" and are named the Happy Helper Plan, the Furniture & Fashion Plan, and the latest one is called the Merry Memories Plan. All three offer different content with no overlaps.

The Happy Helper Plan costs $2.99 per month and unlocks a camp caretaker chosen from any of the animals you've met at your campsite. The caretaker handles animal requests, collects items, and will follow you around the campsite. You'll also get you 60 Leaf Tickets every month the subscription is active.

The Furniture & Fashion Plan is the most expensive at $7.99 per month. It allows you to choose and eat five fortune cookies per month, unlocks extra storage for up to 5,000 different items, as well as offering to save up to five campsite or cabin layouts.

The Merry Memories Plan is about to be introduced and costs $0.99 per month. It allows you to customize an in-game planner using designs and stickers. Leaf Tickets can be used to get new designs and covers, and more memories can be recorded when communicating with your animal pals (using the stickers). It's also possible to link Pocket Camp to Google Fit or the Health app on iOS and it will show your step count every day in the planner. Additional bonuses include 20 Leaf Tickets every month and seasonal event rewards.

As you can imagine, anyone who enjoys Pocket Camp will be eager to sign up for all three subscriptions, but that's a total cost of $11.97 every month. This could lead to more than a few surprised parents the next time they check their bank balance. Now is probably a good time to point out that buying Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch requires spending $60 (once).
