Uber has a message for people abandoning its app over allegations of systemic sexual harassment at the company: It's not just you who's hurting over the scandal.
According to screenshots posted on Twitter, the app-based car service has been sending messages to users who recently deleted the app in an effort to smooth the waters. The pity party comes after former Uber engineer Susan J. Fowler on Sunday posted a scathing blog post describing a culture of sexism and sexual harassment at the company.
"Everyone at Uber is deeply hurting after reading Susan Fowler's blog post," Uber tells fleeing users in the letter. "What she describes is abhorrent and against everything Uber stands for and believes in."
Among other claims, Fowler said a male manager had solicited sex over company chat, and was only given a "stern stalking-to." Uber CEO Travis Kalanick on Monday pledged to "conduct an independent review" into allegations that upper management at the company ignored incidents of sexual harassment.

"We believe in creating a workplace where a deep sense of justice underpins everything we do and it's everyone's number one priority to create change in the coming months and years," Uber goes on to say.
Despite Uber's damage control efforts, some users are jumping ship over the scandal.

This is just the latest in a series of bad PR for Uber as of late. The company late last month took heat on social media for dropping surge pricing and allowing drivers to pick up passengers during a planned taxi strike at JFK following Trump's signing of his executive order on immigration. #DeleteUber quickly trended on Twitter, with people deleting the app and signing up for alternatives like Lyft. Following that incident, Uber's Kalanick quit Trump's business advisory council to quell rumors that he supports the administration's agenda.
