Let's Try This Again: Walmart to Restock PS5, Xbox Series X Today

Try your luck at 1 p.m. PT/ 4 p.m. ET today on Walmart.com and its apps. Hopefully, it'll be better than Monday's restock, which was riddled with glitches.

Here we go again: Walmart is restocking the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at 1 p.m. PT/ 4 p.m. ET today, Nov. 2, following yesterday’s glitchy sales event.

The retailer is listing the disc-based version of the PS5, the digital edition of the console, and the Xbox Series X, with a note that says "You can buy this online-only deal on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 4PM ET." So there’s probably no in-store pickup this time.

The consoles will be sold on both Walmart.com and the company’s app while supplies last. Use the links below to place an order once the time arrives:

We hope Walmart has worked out the kinks in its e-commerce system. On Monday, the retailer also kicked off a restock for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, the whole experience was riddled with technical issues that prevented us from even seeing the “add to cart” button.

Walmart’s system is supposed to enter you into a digital queue, where you wait to place an order for a PS5 or Xbox Series X. But in our case, the site initially struggled and failed to enter us into the queue. We had to refresh the page several times before the site finally placed us into the digital line. But by then, our chances of buying a PS5 were practically gone. The site told us we’d have to wait 17 minutes before we could place an order. The timer for the wait time later shut off, booting us out of the queue.

So expect the units to sell out fast. But don't give up if you see a sold out sign. In the past, Walmart has staggered the re-stock every 10 minutes, so check back if you miss out on securing one immediately.

If you fail to secure a PS5 or Xbox Series X from Walmart, we suggest you frequent social media and follow users devoted to tracking console restocks. There are numerous Twitter profiles and YouTube channels that monitor PS5 and Xbox Series X inventory, which can tip you off when more product will become available.

My Experience

I've been a journalist for over 15 years. I got my start as a schools and cities reporter in Kansas City and joined PCMag in 2017, where I cover satellite internet services, cybersecurity, PC hardware, and more. I'm currently based in San Francisco, but previously spent over five years in China, covering the country's technology sector.

Since 2020, I've covered the launch and explosive growth of SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service, writing 600+ stories on availability and feature launches, but also the regulatory battles over the expansion of satellite constellations, fights with rival providers like AST SpaceMobile and Amazon, and the effort to expand into satellite-based mobile service. I've combed through FCC filings for the latest news and driven to remote corners of California to test Starlink's cellular service.

I also cover cyber threats, from ransomware gangs to the emergence of AI-based malware. In 2024 and 2025, the FTC forced Avast to pay consumers $16.5 million for secretly harvesting and selling their personal information to third-party clients, as revealed in my joint investigation with Motherboard.

I also cover the PC graphics card market. Pandemic-era shortages led me to camp out in front of a Best Buy to get an RTX 3000. I'm now following how the AI-driven memory shortage is impacting the entire consumer electronics market. I'm always eager to learn more, so please jump in the comments with feedback and send me tips.

The Best Tech I've Had:

  • My first video game console: a Nintendo Famicom
  • I loved my Sega Saturn despite PlayStation's popularity.
  • The iPod Video I received as a gift in college
  • Xbox 360 FTW
  • The Galaxy Nexus was the first smartphone I was proud to own.
  • The PC desktop I built in 2013, which still works to this day.
