Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed once again. Instead of launching on Nov. 19, it's now scheduled for a Dec. 10 release.

The game's developer, CD Projekt Red, is pushing back the release date by three weeks, citing the need to ensure CyberPunk 2077 runs well across nine different gaming platforms, including the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as well as Windows PCs.

“The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on the current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test 9 versions of it,” the developer wrote in a statement posted on Twitter.

The testing is also occurring while CD Projekt Red staffers work from home due to the pandemic. “We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do,” the company added.

The news will no doubt disappoint gamers everywhere since this marks the third time CD Projekt Red has delayed Cyberpunk 2077, which was originally supposed to launch in April. Earlier delays were attributed to the company needing more time to iron out all the mechanics in the game, even though it’s technically complete.

“We need to properly go through everything, balance game mechanics and fix a lot of bugs,” CD Projekt Red said in June. To help ensure the title released on Nov. 19, the developer took the controversial move of forcing staffers to endure “mandatory crunch” and log overtime on the weekends.

Not helping the matter is how Cyberpunk 2077's official Twitter account claimed just yesterday that no more delays were happening again. But apparently, the company still needs more time to polish the game.

However, CD Projekt Red is indicating the added development time will be all worth it. “We feel we have an amazing game on our hands and are willing to make every decision, even the hardest ones, if it ultimately leads to you getting a video game you’ll fall in love with,” the company added.

My Experience

I've been a journalist for over 15 years. I got my start as a schools and cities reporter in Kansas City and joined PCMag in 2017, where I cover satellite internet services, cybersecurity, PC hardware, and more. I'm currently based in San Francisco, but previously spent over five years in China, covering the country's technology sector.

Since 2020, I've covered the launch and explosive growth of SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service, writing 600+ stories on availability and feature launches, but also the regulatory battles over the expansion of satellite constellations, fights with rival providers like AST SpaceMobile and Amazon, and the effort to expand into satellite-based mobile service. I've combed through FCC filings for the latest news and driven to remote corners of California to test Starlink's cellular service.

I also cover cyber threats, from ransomware gangs to the emergence of AI-based malware. In 2024 and 2025, the FTC forced Avast to pay consumers $16.5 million for secretly harvesting and selling their personal information to third-party clients, as revealed in my joint investigation with Motherboard.

I also cover the PC graphics card market. Pandemic-era shortages led me to camp out in front of a Best Buy to get an RTX 3000. I'm now following how the AI-driven memory shortage is impacting the entire consumer electronics market. I'm always eager to learn more, so please jump in the comments with feedback and send me tips.

The Best Tech I've Had:

  • My first video game console: a Nintendo Famicom
  • I loved my Sega Saturn despite PlayStation's popularity.
  • The iPod Video I received as a gift in college
  • Xbox 360 FTW
  • The Galaxy Nexus was the first smartphone I was proud to own.
  • The PC desktop I built in 2013, which still works to this day.
