If you were at a loss as to how to spend your time this weekend, how about losing it to Diablo III? As long as you have access to an Xbox One with an Xbox Live Gold subscription attached, Blizzard's hack-and-slash action role-playing game is completely free to play.

The free play offer is part of Microsoft's Xbox Live Gold's Free Play Days, which started today and continues through to 11:59pm PST on Monday, July 31.

The edition of the game you'll be playing is called Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition. It includes the base game as well as the Reaper of Souls expansion pack, which adds a new main villain (Malthael), a new hero called Crusader, increased level cap (70), improved loot drops, and an improved Paragon leveling system.

It's unlikely you'll be able to see everything the game has to offer before Monday. Diablo III can keep you entertained for a couple of hundred hours, and there's also the option to play with up to three friends in a party.

As an added incentive to keep playing and spend some cash, Microsoft is offering a 35 percent discount on the Diablo III: Eternal Collection during the free play period, making it $38.99 instead of the usual $59.99. The Eternal Collection includes all the content from Diablo III and the Reaper of Souls expansion, but also adds a new Necromancer class.

If you prefer physical copies of your Xbox One games, buy Ultimate Evil Edition on disc for $30.
