With its Chromebook Series 5 550 and Chromebox Series 3, Samsung flies the Chrome OS flag again, and extends it to the desktop system.

Samsung has announced the new devices for Chrome OS, the highly portable Samsung Chromebook Series 5 550 and the diminutive desktop Samsung Chromebox Series 3.

Chromebook: Top View

Equipped with a six-hour battery, 4GB of RAM, and an as-yet-unspecified Intel Core processor, the new Chromebook sells for $449 for the Wi-Fi only version, and $549 when equipped with 3G.

The Samsung Chromebook Series 5 550 also boasts two USB 2.0 ports, DisplayPort, an HD webcam, a 12.1-inch display, and weighs in at 3.3 pounds.

Chromebox

The Samsung Chromebox Series 3 has many of the same features, like an Intel Core processor and 4GB of RAM, but it adds four additional USB ports (for a total of six), a second DisplayPort, DVI output, and Bluetooth 3.0.

The Chromebox also comes bundled with a wireless keyboard and mouse, and has Wi-Fi and Ethernet built-in, all for $329.
