Scorned by many, beloved by some, the selfie has become a polarizing cultural zeitgeist for the smartphone age. And depending on where you fall on the selfie spectrum, the HTC Desire Eye smartphone ($149.99 with contract) will either be a dream come true or a sign that the end is nigh. Equipped with an over-the-top 13-megapixel, front-facing camera with dual-LED flash, the Desire Eye delivers unrivaled quality for your cherished me moments. But selfie fans have gone this long with subpar shots and maybe low quality is part of the charm. Are you ready to see and share yourself up close and in unforgiving high-definition? Fortunately, the Desire Eye serves up more than just choice vanity shots, delivering flagship-level specs at a relatively affordable price. Selfie fan or not, the Desire Eye is worth a look on AT&T.

Design, Features, and Call Quality

HTC's new-look Desire lineup embraces a playful design language, in contrast to the precision-crafted design of the One (M8). The Desire Eye, like the Desire 612 on Verizon, is a two-toned plastic slab with comfortably rounded sides and a pleasant matte finish. It feels solidly built, but it's somewhat large at 5.97 by 2.91 by 0.33 inches (HWD) and 5.43 ounces—that's only a bit shorter than the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Along the right edge are Volume, Power, and Camera buttons, the latter of which is particularly useful given the focus on photography. On the opposite side are covered nano SIM and microSD card slots.
