Amazon is expanding its on-demand healthcare service to workplaces and employees nationwide.
You no longer need to work for Amazon to access its medical platform. Amazon Care is now available to other Washington-based firms, and will roll out virtually across all 50 states this summer. In-person service is coming soon to a handful of cities, including Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
The service launched 18 months ago to provide Amazon employees and their families "immediate access to high-quality medical care," according to a company news release. Workers can connect with health professionals via the mobile app for a live chat, request a home visit, or get prescriptions delivered to their door.
"By supplying Amazon Care as a workplace benefit, employers are investing in the health and well-being of arguably their most important asset: their employees," the tech titan said, boasting instant access to urgent and primary care services like COVID-19 and flu testing, vaccinations, preventative care, and sexual health.
Need a health screening or lifestyle advice? Or are you looking for nutrition counseling, pre-pregnancy planning, or help to quit smoking? Simply open the Amazon Care app. Patients can even use the service to assess and nurse injuries on demand.
The HIPAA-compliant program provides continuity, allowing folks to see the same teams of doctors and creating long-term relationships—whether you're going in for a checkup or treating a chronic illness. US employers can visit the Amazon Care website to learn more.
This isn't Amazon's first foray into healthcare. The company in August introduced Halo—an AI-powered health and wellness band. Three months later, it launched Amazon Pharmacy, focused on completing transactions using nothing more than the Amazon app.
