Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Doesn't Sell Out Instantly on Launch Day

We had opportunities to buy multiple RTX 4070 Ti units on Thursday morning, a sign that demand for Nvidia's latest graphics card may be weak. Here's where you can still get one.

In a rarity, one of Nvidia’s newest PC graphics card was actually obtainable on launch day, and remains in stock.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti went on sale on Thursday morning, and we were able to reach the final stage of the checkout process for it at multiple retailers, including Best Buy, Newegg, and Zotac

That said, we got up at the crack of dawn. At about 5:57 a.m. PST, Newegg’s product listings for several RTX 4070 Ti models went live, and we were ready to pounce. Normally, Nvidia’s newest GPUs sell out almost instantly. But we added a $799 RTX 4070 Ti to our virtual cart and got through the checkout process with ease.

The same occurred with Best Buy, which began selling the graphics card at around 6:02 a.m. We were bracing for inventory to run out quick. But we managed to go through the retailer’s digital queue and come out with several opportunities to buy the RTX 4070 Ti.

Both the GPU vendor Zotac and the retailer AntOnline also had stock available, which were easy to purchase on Thursday morning.

The pain-free checkout process —at least for us— signals that demand for Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti may be weak. The graphics card is the most affordable entry so far in the company’s RTX 4000 series. However, it’s still pricey at $799 and up. In addition, it can sometimes underperform against Nvidia’s older RTX 3080 model in certain games.

Still, some consumers got up early to buy the RTX 4070 Ti. By 6:11 a.m., a few models of the RTX 4070 Ti began to sell out at Newegg and then Best Buy. So the supplies could run out as the day goes on. Below are listings for the product that remain in stock as of this writing.

Newegg

Best Buy

Zotac

  • The company's online store is selling three units for $799, $849 and $999.

My Experience

I've been a journalist for over 15 years. I got my start as a schools and cities reporter in Kansas City and joined PCMag in 2017, where I cover satellite internet services, cybersecurity, PC hardware, and more. I'm currently based in San Francisco, but previously spent over five years in China, covering the country's technology sector.

Since 2020, I've covered the launch and explosive growth of SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service, writing 600+ stories on availability and feature launches, but also the regulatory battles over the expansion of satellite constellations, fights with rival providers like AST SpaceMobile and Amazon, and the effort to expand into satellite-based mobile service. I've combed through FCC filings for the latest news and driven to remote corners of California to test Starlink's cellular service.

I also cover cyber threats, from ransomware gangs to the emergence of AI-based malware. In 2024 and 2025, the FTC forced Avast to pay consumers $16.5 million for secretly harvesting and selling their personal information to third-party clients, as revealed in my joint investigation with Motherboard.

I also cover the PC graphics card market. Pandemic-era shortages led me to camp out in front of a Best Buy to get an RTX 3000. I'm now following how the AI-driven memory shortage is impacting the entire consumer electronics market. I'm always eager to learn more, so please jump in the comments with feedback and send me tips.

The Best Tech I've Had:

  • My first video game console: a Nintendo Famicom
  • I loved my Sega Saturn despite PlayStation's popularity.
  • The iPod Video I received as a gift in college
  • Xbox 360 FTW
  • The Galaxy Nexus was the first smartphone I was proud to own.
  • The PC desktop I built in 2013, which still works to this day.
