Hideo Kojima, the creative mind behind Metal Gear Solid and most recently Death Stranding, is developing a game for Xbox that relies on Microsoft's cloud technology.

The game everyone was waiting to see at Microsoft's Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase yesterday was Starfield, but then Kojima popped up and confirmed he's making a game for Microsoft.

Kojima was on-screen for less than a minute, but what he said will have millions of gamers waiting in anticipation:

"Yes, there is a game I have always wanted to make. It's a completely new game, one that no one has ever experienced or seen before. I've waited very long for the day when I could finally start to create it. With Microsoft's cutting edge cloud technology and the change in the industry's trend, it has now become possible to challenge myself to make this never-before-seen concept. It may take some time, but I'm looking forward to teaming up with Xbox Game Studios and hope to bring you some exciting news in the future!"

No details regarding what type of game Kojima is creating were shared, and just like his other games, it won't launch until it's ready. However, a report last week by Try Hard Guides suggested Kojima is working on a horror game called Overdose.

Early footage reportedly shows Margaret Qualley, who played Mama in Death Stranding, walking through dark corridors with a flashlight. First and third-person viewpoints are expected to be available, and of course, plenty of jump scares. Unless Kojima is working on multiple projects, Overdose seems likely to be the game Xbox (and PC) gamers will get.

Relying on cloud technology in a video game suggests you won't be able to play it without an active internet connection. That works well for Microsoft and Xbox Game Pass, which will end up being how most people experience the game. It also suggests this game will not make its way on to rival platforms. The big question remaining to be answered is how Kojima intends to use the cloud and what has it allowed him to create that wasn't possible before?
