One of the best ways to customize the original Switch is to buy brightly colored Joy-Con controllers, and you’ll soon be able to do the same on Nintendo's second-gen console.
The first alternative color controllers for the Switch 2 come in Light Purple for the left controller and Light Green for the right. They’re set to go on sale on Feb. 12. Pricing hasn't been announced, but they're likely to be at least $99.99. The standard Joy-Con 2 controllers got a price hike from $94.99 to $99.99 in August.
The new shades are visible at the base of each joystick and along the right-hand edge of the Light Purple and left-hand edge of the Light Green. Otherwise, they offer the same design and features as the ones included with the console.
(Credit: Nintendo)The console comes with Light Blue and Light Red Joy-Con 2 controllers. It also uses each color on the inner connector on the left and right edge. It's unclear if Nintendo plans to introduce new variants to match the new controller shades.
The first-gen Switch offered different colors at launch, including a special Super Mario Odyssey-themed console with matching red Joy-Con controllers. Nintendo also has various color-matched accessories to go alongside its Joy-Con 2 controllers, such as straps, a carry case, and steering wheels designed for Mario Kart World. So far, Nintendo has yet to make any tie-in versions for the Switch 2 or accessories to match the new colors.
Nintendo also sells individual versions of its original Joy-Con 2 controllers, but the new shades are only available together to start. If Nintendo offers them individually at a later date, you'd be able to pick and mix the color combination.
