LG 45 UltraGear OLED Curved Gaming Monitor

4.0 Excellent

Looking to forget the world around you and get sucked into a digital one? LG’s 45 Ultragear OLED boasts a dazzling, curved 45-inch OLED screen that will make you feel like you’re there. This Editors' Choice Winner would make a generous gift, but any game will look brilliant on this screen, thanks to its 5,120 x 2,160-pixel resolution. Just make sure the recipient has a high-end graphics card to power the experience.

Best Premium Gaming Headset

SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless

4.5 Outstanding

There are many gaming headset options out there, but the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is our current favorite premium option for enthusiasts. It touts excellent audio quality, effective noise cancellation, dual swappable batteries, and a nicely designed base station. We gave it an Editors' Choice award, saying it justified "its price with superior functionality and performance."

Best Wireless Gaming Keyboard

Logitech G Pro X TKL

4.0 Excellent

Ditch the number pad and get straight to gaming with the tenkeyless Logitech G Pro X TKL gaming keyboard, an Editors' Choice award winner. With comfortable typing, low latency, and 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth wireless options, this compact keyboard is a treat for competitive and enthusiast gamers. Wired options abound, too, but few are doing wireless gaming better than Logitech; this remains one of the best and simplest options on the market.

Best Wireless Gamepad

Razer Wolverine V3 Pro

4.0 Excellent

The Razer Wolverine V3 Pro is a premium controller that rivals elite options from first-party hardware makers. Thanks to high-quality buttons and analog sticks, the ergonomic design feels great in hand. The relatively short battery life (estimated at 20 hours on a full charge) may interrupt play sessions, but you won't take your paws off this gamepad once you're back in the game.

Best Gaming Chair

AndaSeat Novis

4.0 Excellent

No one should sit still for hours on end, but a great gaming chair helps better support your body when all your brain can think about is defeating a tough boss. The AndaSeat Novis is an Editors' Choice winner thanks to its sturdy and comfortable design. It's also affordable, leaving you with extra cash to spend on all the other items on this list.

Best Affordable Computer Speakers

Creative Pebble Pro

4.5 Outstanding

Audio is one category with a nearly limitless price ceiling among hobbyists, so how about something straightforward and affordable? The Editors' Choice Creative Pebble Pro speakers are relatively tiny, but they punch above their weight in audio performance. They deliver strong sound with wide stereo image, and angled drivers, plus they support 3.5mm, Bluetooth, and USB-C playback. The RGB lighting is a nice touch.

Best Budget Gaming Mouse

8BitDo Retro R8

4.0 Excellent

A budget gaming mouse always comes with compromises, but the 8BitDo Retro R8 is so good, at such an affordable price, that it's hard to care much about them. The Retro R8’s impressive performance (up to 26,000dpi and 8,000Hz polling rate) punches above its weight class when you consider its low cost. The Editors' Choice winner also features a striking, lightweight design that evokes the golden age of gaming.

Best Handheld Gaming PC

Lenovo Legion Go S (SteamOS)

4.0 Excellent

The original, Windows-powered Lenovo Legion Go S was already a solid handheld gaming PC, with an ergonomic design and great screen. However, the new Z2 Go model, an Editors' Choice, achieves even better performance by replacing the Windows operating system with the lightweight and impressive SteamOS. Our reviewer calls it "a better SteamOS handheld than the actual Steam Deck."

Best Open-Back Gaming Headset

Turtle Beach Atlas Air

4.0 Excellent

Gaming headsets come in all shapes and sizes, and the Turtle Beach Atlas Air is an excellent example of a relatively rare subcategory: the open-back design. Compared with common, closed-back headsets, open-back headsets let air pass through earcups, allowing for more natural sound. The Editors' Choice winner is also an overall excellent headset, featuring well-balanced audio, a clear microphone, and a long-lasting battery.

Best Gaming Wi-Fi Router

Asus ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Pro

4.0 Excellent

A good gaming router is essential for getting online for multiplayer action and more. The Asus ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Pro is an Editors' Choice due to its speedy performance and impressive specs, including a 10GbE port and Wi-Fi 7 with 320MHz channel bandwidth. You can customize it to enhance security and even prevent younger players from gaming when they aren't supposed to.

Best Mainstream Gaming Desktop

MSI Codex R2

4.0 Excellent

The MSI Codex R2 is an ideal mainstream gaming tower for, say, your child or spouse that won't break the bank. We gave an Editors' Choice award to an Nvidia RTX 4060 model, but RTX 5060 versions are now available for about the same price. That makes it an even sweeter deal, and you can expect steady 60fps gaming on most modern titles. It's a large tower with a nice case design and solid all-around performance, plus it will be easily upgradable in the future.

Best PC Gaming Subscription

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

4.0 Excellent

Have a PC gamer in your life who wants to play Xbox's top titles on the cheap? For a monthly fee, Xbox Game Pass, an Editors' Choice winner, delivers a steady stream of gaming goodness, making it an appealing alternative to purchasing full-priced games. Game Pass offers instant access to numerous high-profile Xbox games on launch day and includes subscription services from EA and Ubisoft, and you don't need to pay for online play.

Best Gaming Webcam

HyperX Vision S

4.0 Excellent

Gaming accessory brand HyperX offers a range of options for PC power users, and its Vision S camera is one of the best webcams we've reviewed, period. It sits at the higher end of the price spectrum, but it's still less expensive than other 4K alternatives, really splitting the difference between performance and value. It works well in low light, too, so it's great for dark gaming caves.

Jordan Minor

Principal Writer, Software

My PCMag career began in 2013 as an intern. Now, I'm a senior writer, using the skills I acquired at Northwestern University to write about dating apps, meal kits, programming software, website builders, video streaming services, and video games. I was previously a senior editor at Geek.com and have written for The A.V. Club, Kotaku, and Paste Magazine. I'm the author of the gaming history book Video Game of the Year: A Year-by-Year Guide to the Best, Boldest, and Most Bizarre Games from Every Year Since 1977, and the reason everything you know about Street Sharks is a lie.

The Technology I Use

I use the newest Android and iOS smartphones for testing, but I currently use an iPhone 14 as my personal phone. I just hate that we gave up headphone jacks.

I've always favored gaming laptops over desktops. On that note, I have a 16-inch HP Envy with an Intel Core i9-13900H CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. No matter what machine I’m working on, an alarming amount of my personal and professional life revolves around cloud-synced Google Drive files.

For food subscriptions, my household sticks with CookUnity and HelloFresh for meals. Video streaming is a bit more complicated. While there are too many services to list, we're subscribed to most of the major ones. These days, I find myself drawn to HBO Max's movies and shows, as well as Peacock's reality trash.

I've been a lifelong Nintendo fan, and I sincerely believe the Nintendo Switch will go down as one of the best gaming consoles of all time. It has an unbelievable library of new and old games from Nintendo and third-party companies. The handheld/console hybrid approach makes playing games so much more flexible, a legacy that continues with the Nintendo Switch 2 and Valve’s Steam Deck.
