It's not uncommon to see deals on last-gen smartphones. Sometimes you can find discounts on phones that were just released, but they're typically small and don't amount to much. That's not the case today, however, as Amazon Prime Day is here, and the company is offering large discounts on several phones—some of which just launched this year and are marked down hundreds of dollars from their original retail price.

Google Pixel 3a XL + $100 Amazon Gift Card

Google's Pixel 3a XL is a midrange smartphone that comes equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 670 SoC and 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Its key features include a high-resolution 6-inch 2,160 by 1,080 OLED display and a large 3,700mAh battery. If you order it during Prime Day, you can it for $479 with a free $100 gift card. In our review, we called it "the best bang for your buck among big-screen Android phones."

Google Pixel 3 64GB

Google's 6.3-inch Pixel 3 features an aluminum frame with a hybrid exterior coating made up predominantly of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. At the heart of this phone rests a power Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and 4GB of RAM. Right now it's marked down 33 percent, which makes it highly competitive against other competing flagships.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 is one of the largest phones on the market with a 6.4-inch 2,960-by-1,440 AMOLED display. This phone is somewhat unique as it includes a stylus for handwriting notes. This stylus supports several other features as well, including translation and Bixby Vision, and the stylus fits snugly inside the phone when not in use. For Prime Day, you can get this phone for $649.99; if you don't see the deal listed, look for "Deal of the Day" on the right, and click View Offer.

Regular Price: $999.99

$300 Off Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ smartphones were released just four months ago for $899.99 and $999.99, respectively. But Amazon is taking $300 off for Prime Day (prism black version only at this point). These smartphones are two of the fastest phones on the market today, with an extensive list of features including three rear-facing cameras, high-resolution AMOLED displays, 8GB of RAM, and at least 128GB of storage space.

Regular Price: Galaxy S10 $899.99 \ Galaxy S10+ $999.99
Price From Amazon: S10 $599.99 \ S10+ $699.99 (prism black)

$250 Off Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+

Samsung's Galaxy S9 has been replaced by the company's new S10, but as a last-gen flagship, it offers excellent performance and an exceptionally low Prime Day price of $349.99. It sports a 2,960 by 1,440 AMOLED display, and runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Galaxy S9+ has a larger display and a better camera configuration with a 2x optical zoom camera for an extra $100.

Razer Phone 2 64GB

Razer's Phone 2 was designed as a gaming smartphone, which makes it rather unique. The phone's Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC is passively cooled by a customized vapor chamber that helps prevent overheating and keeps it running at top speed longer. In our review, we found that the 5.72-inch Razer Phone 2 is a great Android phone for gaming but it's pretty average at everything else. If you're a gamer, though, it's half price for Prime Day.

Regular Price: $799.99
Price From Amazon: $399.99

Motorola Moto G7 64GB

Motorola's Moto G7 features Amazon's Alexa virtual assistant, which allows it to take voice commands and control Alexa-enabled smart devices. This midrange phone also has quite the capable octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and a large 6.2-inch 2,270-by-1,080 display. For Prime Day, you can get it for less than $200.

Regular Price: $289.99
Price From Amazon: $199.99

Motorola Moto G6

If the Motorola G7 with its 6.2-inch display is too large for you, you might like the Moto G6 instead, which has a 5.7-inch display. There's also a slower Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, but the same $199.99 price tag, so the G7 really gives you more bang for the buck unless it's truly too hefty for you.

Regular Price: $319.99
Price From Amazon: $199.99

LG Stylo 4 64GB Unlocked

This last smartphone deal is available exclusively for Amazon Prime members. Similar to Samsung's Galaxy S9 Note, LG's Stylo 4 comes with a stylus that can be used for taking handwritten notes on the phone's large 6.2-inch 2,160-by-1,080 display. This phone is slower than most of the other phones on this list, but its octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 should offer plenty of performance for everyday use, and it has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Best of all, it's the least expensive phone on our list at $159.99.

Regular Price: $299.99
Price From Amazon: $159.99

My Experience

I have been interested in science and technology for as long as I can remember, spurred on by a fondness for video games. I learned to work in Windows and manipulate files to get buggy games to work, and I learned to build and upgrade PCs for better performance.

In my role at PCMag for the past four years, I’ve deeply enjoyed the opportunity to share my knowledge and expertise. Before PCMag, I wrote for Tom's Hardware for three years, where I covered tech news, deals, and wrote some hands-on reviews. After working as a PCMag contributor for a time reviewing desktops, PC cases, budget processors, and motherboards, I now focus on testing and reviewing processors and graphics cards and sharing my insights on the industry.

The Technology I Use

As a PC component reviewer, almost every PC I use is a custom-built system. The only exceptions are my laptops, which I modify and tweak to improve performance, too. My current best laptop is a 16-inch Lenovo Slim 5 with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060. My home-built desktop has an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X processor with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU—all the better to play Kingdom Come Deliverance II with.

My lifelong love of computers and gaming has led me to amass a collection of old tech devices. I have several custom-built PCs, ranging from a Windows 98-based Pentium II to modern hardware, that I use to enjoy older games. These sit alongside my collection of retro game consoles, which includes an NES, a Super Nintendo, a Sega Genesis, an original PlayStation, and a first-generation Xbox.

I'm also a connoisseur of budget tech devices, like my smartphone of choice. Currently, I use a Poco X7 Pro that I bought in 2025 and love so far.
