Meet the SilverStone Lucid Series LD01

Although all three glass panels (on the front, and both sides) have a smoky tint, an LED strip or two (or LED fans, for that matter) will turn this chassis into a transparent showcase for your hardware.

A Little Attitude

SilverStone gives the Lucid LD01 some extra attitude by wrapping the upper and lower edges of each tempered-glass panel with steel. It's an eye-catching design choice, but metal this thin can bend or dent.

The Ports Up Top

SilverStone puts some standard ports on the top of the Lucid LD01 and spices things up with a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port. The other ports are two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and audio/mic jacks. A power button sits up here as well, complete with an LED border.

The Power Supply's Removable Air Filter

SilverStone does a nice job with fan filters on its cases, and it hits a home run here. The top of the case has a removable filter that attaches via magnets. The vents at the bottom of the case, below the power supply, have a filter (shown here) that slides out with the push of a button. And the front panel has a tall filter, as well.

The Unfiltered Front

Here you can see the front vertical filter being removed. The case has been stripped of the three glass panels.

A Look at the Interior

The Lucid LD01's interior has everything you'd expect to see from a SilverStone case, including plenty of elbow room and multiple pass-throughs for cable management. A steel compartment blocks your view of the PSU from this side, but a cutout lets you bring cables right to where you need them.

A View From the Other Side

Around the back is the motherboard tray, along with the large PSU compartment.

Components Included

A small bag holds a warranty card and a smaller bag of screws and standoffs. The bag also includes a tool for removing stubborn standoffs, a worthy extra.

Slick and Smooth Edging

The tempered-glass panels surrounding the case and the metal rimming give the Lucid an extra touch of class.

My Mood-Lit Test Build

I attached my trusty Corsair Hydro H60 liquid cooler to the processor, installing the radiator and fan on the inside of the case top. I stacked two SilverStone FW142-RGB fans at the front (these are 140mm models), plus installed another (120mm) fan in the exhaust position at the back of the Lucid LD01. To cap it off, I installed a SilverStone LSB01 control box to light the RGB fans.
