Front View
This year's Asus ZenBook 13 (model UX334) is minutely bigger and heavier than last year's UX333 at 0.7 by 11.9 by 7.5 inches and 2.83 pounds, but still no burden in a briefcase (or the handsome carrying sleeve it comes with).
Keyboard
The keyboard is slightly undersized but fairly comfortable. Undersized is the last word you'd apply to the ScreenPad 2.0 touchpad—it measures 5.65 inches diagonally.
ScreenPad Shortcuts
The default display on the illuminated ScreenPad combines utility and website launch buttons with keys that provide sets of shortcuts for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, resembling those that Apple's Touch Bar shows for macOS apps.
ScreenPad Calculator
Since the ultraportable is too small for a numeric keypad, you can also use the ScreenPad as a four-function calculator ...
ScreenPad Handwriting
... or as a handwriting area to scribble text with a finger, with smartphone-style word completion choices above.
Rear View
The Asus shows the attractive blue aluminum styling and gold-logo-on-concentric-circles lid seen in previous ZenBooks.
Left Ports
The AC adapter uses a right-angle plug instead of USB-C connector. USB 3.1 Type-A and Type-C ports join an HDMI port on the laptop's left side.
Right Ports
There's no Thunderbolt 3 port, but you'll find a microSD card slot and audio jack along with an antique USB 2.0 port on the right edge.
Underside
The bottom-mounted Harman/Kardon speakers produce above-average if not especially loud sound.
Screen View
The 13.3-inch non-touch screen offers 1080p resolution with decent color, brightness, and contrast. There's no 4K option available.
