Many wireless digital photo frames focus more on extras—like RSS news feeds and the ability to listen to Internet radio stations—than they do on good image-display features. The Smartparts 8-inch WiFi Digital Picture Frame (SPX8WF) leaves out features that appeal to only a small percentage of users and concentrates on the basics. Best of all, you don't have to pay for features you probably wouldn't use. Paring down the features means that Smartparts can offer its frame at an excellent price: $149 (list).

The 8-inch, 800-by-600-pixel display offers a resolution that's higher than any of the other Wi-Fi frames I've tested, namely the D-Link Wireless Photo Frame (DSM-210), the Kodak EasyShare W820 Wireless Digital Frame, the PF Digital eStarling Impact8 Connected Wireless Digital Photo Frame, and the Sony VAIO Wi-Fi Photo Frame (VGF-CP1). At this resolution, your photos look outstanding on the 4:3 LCD. Because of the large, removable outer frame, the 2-pound unit measures 9 by 10.6 by 1.2 inches (HWD). That's significantly larger than some of the competition, including the 7-inch Sony VGF-CP1 and the 8
