At this year's PMA trade show (that's Photo Marketing Association to you newbies), Sony introduced its first wireless digital point-and-shoot camera, the six megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-G1, which will be able to use an infrastructure connection to 802.11b and g networks to send images over networks. But it's not the first and I'm certain it won't be the last.
Two wireless cameras worth noting from 2006, and yes they're still on the market, are the updated six megapixel Kodak EasyShare One
Canon's SD430 has a lot of functionality too, but where this camera really excels is in picture quality and performance. Plus, if you've got a Canon printer, you can print wirelessly from your camera as well.
As time passes, wireless cameras will evolve further. Most recently, Nikon introduced the 7.1 megapixel Nikon Coolpix S7c, which is a big step forward in terms of ease-of-use. They way I see it, Nikon is taking the lead in the wireless-camera race by including some very novel features on this cool shooter. For example, it offers the ability to e-mail your photos directly from the device. And although it's still not quite perfect, I think the S7c's intuitive way of emailing photos could be the way we all get our pictures off our cameras in the future.
