Keurig Kold

The Keurig Kold is rather bulky, but for good reason: While the heating components in coffee machines can be relatively miniaturized, much more space is needed for an effective refrigeration system.

The Kold's large, round metal handle that lifts up to reveal the circular recess for Kold Pods looks just like one of Keurig's coffee machines.

The pods themselves are a little larger and more complicated than K-Cups. They have the same basic structure, with a foil top the machine punches to access the ingredients and produce a beverage.

At $1.25 for eight ounces for each pod when you can easily stock your fridge with several times that much for the same price, it's just too pricey a proposition.

The pods have nozzles on the undersides covered by foil seals that must be removed before use. A notch on the pods ensures that they sit properly in the machine.
