Measuring only 3.9 by 13.1 by 14.4 inches, the Compaq Evo D510 Small Form Factor takes up less space than any other corporate machine in our roundup, but it still has room for a CD-ROM drive, a floppy disk drive, two PCI slots, and—should you wish to upgrade the machine's integrated Intel 845G graphics chip set—a half-height AGP slot. For an extra $73, you can replace the CD-ROM drive with the Compaq MultiBay Drive Adapter, which accommodates all the same removable drives as Compaq business notebooks. HP offers three other versions of the D510: the e-PC, an even smaller system that does away with legacy hardware; an ultraslim desktop that is slightly larger and offers a bit more room for expansion; and a convertible mini-tower, the largest of the lot. Unlike the Compaq Evo D510 Small Form Factor, all three other versions can be stood on end as well as laid flat.

MANAGEMENT
() The D510 line was introduced in May, and HP guarantees that—unless it finds any significant bugs in the platforms—all machines in the line will retain the same drivers and firmware through May of next year. You can also load the same software across the line's multiple form factors, from the e-PC to the convertible mini-tower. For managing these machines over a network, HP provides Compaq's Intelligent Manageability Software, which lets you not only take system inventory and monitor various hardware components but also lock a system chassis and receive alerts when the chassis is opened.

UPGRADABILITY
() The system chassis is tool free, and there are full-height PCI slots. With the Compaq MultiBay Drive Adapter, you can swap components with ease. You can add and remove drives without opening the chassis.
