Apple is reportedly working on a new Mac mini that could be its smallest desktop computer ever.

As Bloomberg reports, the smaller computer will be closer in size to an Apple TV set-top box, though it may be slightly taller than the current version.

The third-gen Apple TV 4K comes in at 1.2 by 3.7 by 3.7 inches (HWD), while the latest M3-based Mac mini measures 1.4 by 7.7 by 7.7 inches. Bloomberg describes the upcoming Mac mini as "an iPad Pro in a small box," citing people involved in the new PC's development.

Like the newest iPad Pro, the redesigned Mac mini will run an M4 chip; a more powerful version will run the upcoming M4 Pro chip, according to Bloomberg, which previously reported that AI-enhanced M4 chips are coming to the full Mac lineup in late 2024 and early 2025. The Mac mini is expected later this year.

The new Mac Mini is expected to have “at least three USB-C ports on the back” and an HDMI port.
