Apple has no plans to develop an Apple Silicon version of its 27-inch iMac.

An Apple rep confirms to The Verge that its focus on the AIO front is its newly released 24-inch iMac. In our review, we found that its M3 processor takes the iMac to new performance heights, even for gaming. PCMag's Joe Osborne also notes that "while many of my colleagues have lamented the loss of the 27-inch iMac, such a system would simply be too unwieldy for my corner desk space—even 24 inches is on the large side for my taste."

Apple apparently agrees. The Intel-based 27-inch iMac last got a refresh in 2020, and when the form factor got an update in 2021, Apple's new M1 Silicon only landed on the 24-inch version. It then skipped over the M2 and launched with the M3 last month, though it only comes with the base model chip, not the M3 Pro or M3 Max found on MacBook Pro configurations.

In the interim, Apple also launched the 27-inch Apple Studio Display, which pairs up nicely with the Mac mini if you have the desk space. Those who want a powerful, big-screen AIO and are not committed to macOS should consider the 31.5-inch Lenovo Yoga AIO 9i Gen 8 or or 34-inch HP Envy 34 All-in-One, both of which are PCMag Editors' Choice picks.
