Corsair today launched a new peripheral in the form of a touch screen that's designed to act as a companion device clipped to your keyboard (or free-standing) and offering lots of extra functionality with a quick tap.

It's called the iCUE Nexus, and it's reminiscent of the Touch Bar Apple includes on its MacBooks, only this one is very much focused on desktop PCs and gamers in particular. The long, thin touch screen display connects via USB and is capable of displaying six virtual buttons, but also supports over 200 different screens. It's powered by Corsair's iCUE software and includes programmable macros so you can set it up to function as you want. Each new screen of options can cater to a different scenario.

The main example Corsair gives is using the iCUE Nexus as a real-time system monitor, including live feedback on "CPU, GPU, and iCUE-compatible devices, including temperatures, frequencies, fan speeds, and more." Those iCUE-compatible devices can have their settings changed on-the-fly using the touch screen, for example, you can quickly adjust the DPI settings on your Corsair mouse. The display also supports animated GIFs and images, but there's also pre-programmed options to use and "unique visuals and custom actions for certain games."

Included in the box with the Nexus is a mounting bracket for the K70 MK.2 and K95 Platinum keyboards, and a second mounting bracket for the K70 MK.2 Low Profile keyboard. If you don't own any of those, Corsair also includes a standalone base. The Nexus includes a two-year warranty, and costs $99.99 direct from Corsair.
