Apple Pay Cash, the service that allows users to send money via iMessage, might be coming to Europe imminently.
According to French tech blog iPhon.fr, a user in France saw messages pop up on his iPhone XS Max and Apple Watch Series 4 encouraging him to set up the service using a credit card issued by a French bank.
Apple Pay Cash has so far only been available in the United States, and has been since December 2017, as Apple tries to compete with apps such as Venmo and Square Cash.
Adding to the theory that a European launch is coming is the fact that Apple Pay Cash's support pages have been localised in German. These pages went live on Apple's servers on the 30th of September, according to MacRumours.
The way that Apple Pay Cash works is via a virtual card that's kept in the Wallet app on your iPhone. When you receive money for the first time, the cash is sent there. It can then be used in shops, in apps, on supported websites or can be transferred into another bank account.
This isn't the only US-based feature Apple is looking to launch in Europe: the EGC function of the Apple Watch Series 4 is yet to be certified in the United Kingdom, and the MHRA says that it could take years.
However, if the service was approved in Europe, it would be allowed in all EU member states which, for the moment, includes the UK.
