Have you ever browsed Amazon Prime for something to watch only to find it requires renting or buying? It looks as though Amazon is set to solve that problem with a new "Free to me" filter.

As XDA Developers reports, the latest version of Amazon Prime Video (v3.0.261.16341) is now available on the Play Store, and it includes a couple of useful new features. The first is a Top Actors feature, which allows you to pick your favorite actors to follow. Whenever they have a movie or TV show added to Prime, you'll be told via a notification.

The second, and arguably much more useful feature to appear, is a new filter toggle called "Free to me." When enabled, it limits the content selection on the main page of Prime Video to what's available to watch with your Prime membership. So no more excitedly spotting a movie or TV show you want to watch, but then being told you need to pay to watch it.

The Free to me filter isn't a core feature yet as it isn't appearing on all devices, the same is true of the Top Actors feature. Hopefully both become permanent additions, and it could be Amazon has decided to slowly roll them out to users to get an idea of the reaction and how it alters viewing habits, if at all.

We're also expecting Amazon to add a smart downloads feature to the app in the not too distant future. Once enabled, it will work much like Netflix's version, where by the next episode of a show you are watching gets automatically downloaded in time for you to start watching it immediately. It's clever and convenient and will be a welcome addition to the app.
