Looking for new podcasts? An update to Spotify’s Prompted Playlists feature might help.

Prompted Playlists began rolling out to listeners in the US and Canada earlier this year. At launch, the AI-powered feature allowed you to find music using simple prompts, meaning you didn't need to recall the artist, album, or name of a song. Just describe what you feel like listening to, and the AI generates a playlist based on your prompt and unique listening history.

Starting today, Spotify is making the same capability available for podcast discovery as well. Premium subscribers can get started by tapping Create > Prompted Playlists

Sample prompts shared by Spotify include “Create a podcast playlist with the biggest entertainment news from the past few days. Include all things music, film, fashion, and major cultural moments,” and “Make a playlist of true crime investigations you think I’d be interested in. Add highly rated series with lots of twists and turns.”

Prompts can be as detailed as you'd like. If you are not impressed by what the prompt creates, you can edit it or provide a new one. Each podcast or episode recommended by the tool will provide a reason for why it was suggested to you. While providing the prompt, you can also decide whether your AI playlist should update daily or weekly.

If you're low on inspiration, you can also check out some Spotify-curated Prompted Playlists on your homepage. “Podcast fans are always looking for their next great listen…Prompted Playlist makes discovery feel effortless and personal,” says Lizzy Hale, Spotify’s podcast editorial head.

For now, Spotify’s Prompted Playlists for podcasts is limited to Premium users in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden. The feature is still in beta and comes with usage limits; Spotify didn't specify what those are, but said they might "change as we test and learn from listener feedback."

YouTube Music has a similar AI playlist feature.
