Amazon is knocking $30 off the price tag of its new Kindle Fire HDX tablets but you'd better hurry—the special online deal at Amazon.com only runs until 8:59 p.m. Eastern today.

Shoppers at the online retail giant's site can get the discount when they enter promotional code SANTAHDX at checkout after selecting a new Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch tablet or Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch tablet . Simply go to Amazon's landing pages for the 7-inch slate or the 8.9-inch device to take advantage of the limited-time deal.

Keep in mind that the offer is available only for the 16GB, WiFi-only versions of each Kindle Fire HDX. Both the Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch tablet and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch tablet also have options for 4G LTE wireless plans through AT&T or Verizon, and versions with 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage are also available.

When ordering discounted tablets, be sure to choose one-day shipping at checkout. Amazon is also offering free one-day shipping through 6 p.m. Eastern on Dec. 23 for all of its in-stock Kindle devices ordered via Amazon.com.

A note of warning, Amazon noted in a release sent to PCMag that "product prices and availability are subject to change" as it pertains to the Kindle Fire HDX deals and any other Kindle discounts, though as of Monday afternoon, the SANTAHDX promotion was still in effect.

Earlier this month, Amazon offered up a special payment plan for gift-buyers seeking its Kindle Fire HDX tablets this holiday season.
