Installing Windows 8 on The Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Tablet

To get a taste of the touch-friendly aspects of Windows 8, we loaded the new OS onto the Editors’ Choice Lenovo X220 Tablet.

Many applications go full screen automatically, like Tweet@rama, the native Twitter client included with the Windows 8 Developer’s Preview.

Though they may not have the slickest looking tiles, older Windows applications still work with the new tile-based Metro interface.

We briefly ditched the keyboard and switched over to tablet-mode to see how well the Windows 8 worked with touch alone.

Though there are a few minor visual tweaks here and there, exploring files and libraries should still be extremely familiar to any Windows user.

In the bottom left corner of the screen, you’ll see the impossible to miss date and time.

Included with the Windows 8 Developer’s Preview is a game called Zero Gravity, which bills itself as "The gripping tales of a really lost astronaut."

The black introduction screen reminds us that this is the Developer’s Preview of Windows 8, and not the final version.

The Windows 8 Log-in screen takes several design cues from the new Metro Interface. In the lower right corner you’ll see a notification that updates are ready to be installed.
