The Bottom Line

Spidey has waited nearly a decade for his own two-player, simple arcade-style game, and Friend or Foe is worth the wait.

Pros & Cons

    • Delivers easy-to-learn arcade-style two player gaming.
    • Second player can drop in and out at anytime.
    • Up to 16 unlockable characters.
    • Didn't seem to take advantage of the Wii remote's motion capabilities.

Spider-Man: Friend or Foe Specs

ESRB Rating: E for Everybody
Genre: Action Games
Platform: Nintendo Wii
  • Platform Tested: Nintendo Wii
  • Genre: Action
  • ESRB: E 10+ (Cartoon Violence)

The latest adventure starring our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man delivers a solid gaming experience. The web slinger and the gaming community have been waiting nearly a decade for this king of straightforward two-player, arcade-style Spidey game. If you're looking for a more mature Spider-Man title, Activision also released Spider-Man 3. Friend or Foe offers 16 playable characters that each has a different feel and quick-to-learn attack controls. Best of all, the second player can jump in and out at any time, almost like when you would pop a quarter into an arcade game to join the action. There's nothing ground breaking about the controls. The developers don't seem to have taken advantage of the Wii remote's motion capabilities, but that doesn't ruin the fun. If you want to give your gaming brain a rest and enjoy a nostalgic arcade experience, don't overlook Spider-Man: Friend or Foe. And if you own an HD gaming console (Xbox 360 or PC), you'll want to purchase the HD version since it will have a higher resolution.
