South Beach Smoke E-Cigarettes are packaged as fun and stylish e-cigs, good for light vapers or those new to vaping, but they lack the powerful back-of-throat hit that heavier vapers or those transitioning from actual cigarettes may desire. - Gadgets

The Bottom Line

South Beach Smoke E-Cigarettes are packaged as fun and stylish e-cigs, good for light vapers or those new to vaping, but they lack the powerful back-of-throat hit that heavier vapers or those transitioning from actual cigarettes may desire.

Pros & Cons

    • Pleasant, subtle-tasting e-juice.
    • Good battery and cartridge life.
    • Attractive crystal LED.
    • Rather weak back-of-throat hit.
    • Excessive air intake when taking a draw.

South Beach Smoke is an e-cig that goes after the same young, trendy crowd that Blu e-cigs targets. I mean, what's trendier than South Beach?  The result is an attractive e-cig that provides decent battery life with pleasant-tasting e-juice (the combination of nicotine, water, and other ingredients that make for the vapor). The only drawbacks for me are a rather weak back-of-the throat hit, and what seems to be an excessive amount of air intake when I vape a South Beach. Still, this is a good e-cig for newbies, recreational vapers, or light smokers of regular cigarettes who either want to transition from analogs or incorporate e-cigs into their smoking habit.

South Beach Specs
I got the Deluxe Starter Kit ($59.99) to test. It's an attractive package, although not as elegant as the kit I received with Halo's G6 E-Cigs and it does not come with a carrying case for the e-cigs. You can order a carrying case that doubles as a charger, as a separate accessory, or with the Deluxe Plus and other higher-priced kits.

In the starter kit you get two rechargeable batteries, one standard (2.5 inches and good for 300 to 400 puffs when charged, per the company's website) and one high-capacity (3.25 inches, which supports 500 to 600 puffs). Both batteries charge with an included USB charger or a wall charger (also in the box). South Beach also provides a user manual and a membership card. Becoming a member gets you deals such as discounts on supplies, regular home delivery of "e-juice"—the liquid that makes the vapor—and a few other perks.
