Review
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T1 is the ultracompact par excellence: Though nothing to write home about in terms of resolution (for a 5-megapixel camera) or recycle speed, it's tiny, stylish, slim, and sleek. The lens is protected by a sliding shutter, and although the DSC-T1 doesn't have an optical viewfinder, its massive 2.5-inch LCD enables easy viewing and sharing. It offers 30-fps video, manual focus, eight program modes, and a histogram. The DSC-T1 is for buyers who want a sexy, high-resolution ultracompact camera. And it's refreshingly simple to use.

This camera handles very well, with intuitive, large menus. The buttons are tiny but have a good feel. The battery is limited, but a minute countdown tells how much power is left. The DSC-T1 boots quickly. This is handy for a camera that you can slip into any pocket to make sure that you never miss a shot. You'd better make sure you get the first shot, though, because the camera's recycle times are slow, as is its burst mode. Our test shots had a slight yellow cast. The daylight image was underexposed, but the flash image was well exposed and illuminated. Despite the DSC-T1's rated 5.1 megapixels, resolution is in line with that of a 4MP model.
