Snapchat users can now share personalized Bitmoji with friends in chat or with snaps.

Four months after acquiring start-up Bitstrips for $100 million, the ephemeral messaging service today announced support for the caricatures.

"We fell in love with the Bitmoji team and their amazing products, and we are so excited to welcome them as a new part of the Snapchat family," CEO Evan Spiegel said in a statement Bitmoji-fueled comic strip.

Bitstrips launched on Facebook in late 2012, nearly a year before debuting on iOS and Android. With it, mobile and Chrome Web users can create animated avatars of themselves by adjusting physical characteristics and accessories, and placing their digital likeness in various scenarios.

Those already expressing themselves via lookalike Bitstrips emoji can link their accounts in Snapchat; everyone else must first download the Bitmoji app to create stylized figures.

Keep an eye out for cartoons that look suspiciously familiar. Earlier this month, comScore reported that Snapchat has been "rapidly growing its user base" among older millennials (25- to 34-year-olds), and even the over-35 set—a.k.a. your parents.

To remember simpler times, Snapchat just debuted Memories, which lets you relive the past by saving snaps and stories into a slideshow-like frame for personal use.
