With its excellent hardware keyboard, BlackBerry's Android-powered KeyOne phone is a messaging marvel for a niche audience.

BlackBerry KeyOne

The BlackBerry KeyOne is the first major keyboarded smartphone we've seen in more than a year.

Left

The BlackBerry KeyOne has a serious, executive-looking design.

Keyboard

The four-row keyboard is black and shiny, with metal frets that harken back to the BlackBerry Bold.

Bottom

There's a USB-C port on the bottom, as well as a speakerphone.

Right

The action key on the side defaults to opening the Messaging Hub.

Display

The KeyOne runs Android 7.1.1 on a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB of RAM. Android has been heavily overlaid with a new launcher and custom apps, most notably BlackBerry's Messaging Hub and DTEK security monitoring software.

Top

There's a standard headphone jack on the top.

Case

Our BlackBerry KeyOne review unit came with this nice leather flip case.

Back

The back is grippy, keeping the phone in your hand as you're typing.
