Samsung's next Galaxy Note might be unveiled on Aug. 2, Sammobile reports.

The blog tips the Galaxy Note 7 Edge at a Samsung Unpacked event in New York City, pointing to a leaked press invitation. An image of the invite includes the hashtag "TheNextGalaxy, and says "The next edge is just around the corner," suggesting that the Note 7 will have a curved display.

Samsung Invite

Rumors have been swirling about Samsung's next-gen Note for the last few weeks, with some suggesting that the company will skip from Galaxy Note 5, unveiled last year, directly to Galaxy Note 7 to put itself in line with the existing Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge lineup.

Sammobile suggests the new phone will have a 5.8-inch quad-HD display with a curved screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor, and USB-C.

The timing is similar to the Galaxy Note 5 unveiling last year, which happened on Aug. 13. That was a departure from previous years, when Samsung waited until the IFA trade show in September to hold a big Unpacked event and reveal a new Note. Last year, some speculated Samsung wanted to get out ahead of Apple, which revealed its iPhone 6s lineup a few weeks later.
