Protesters Deliver Petition for Ethical iPhone to NYC Apple Store

Protesters at the Apple store in New York City's Grand Central Terminal on Thursday deliver a petition demanding the tech giant improve working conditions at overseas manufacturing plants.

Sarah Ryan, human rights organizer at Change.org, holds a box containing the petition, which garnered 250,000 signatures, before handing it off to an Apple employee.

Petitioner Shelby Knox, director of organizing at Change.org, said on Thursday that "This is really a global movement of people who are fans of Apple saying, ‘we want your company to be better.’"

Sarah Ryan, human rights organizer at Change.org, said on Thursday that customers will increase pressure on Apple if it does not address concerns about the working conditions at its supplier’s factories.

Protester Mike Daisey said Apple CEO Tim Cook should take an "honest look at his supply chain."

"They are supposed to be a leader in the industry; they should be able to create change on the ground, immediately," protester Mike Daisey said of Apple on Thursday.
