Throw away that Marvel smartphone cover and crack open your piggy bank: Samsung is designing an Iron Man edition of its Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone.

The electronics giant incited fanboy frenzy today when it tweeted a photo of the upcoming handset's box.

Yes, the six pieces of cardboard carrying an unseen gadget is enough to make superhero enthusiasts drool.

Little else is known about the product, which is presumably so amazing that it casts a glowing light from the edge of its container.

The image of Iron Man's somber mask graces the box cover, flanked by the GS6 Edge brand and Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron film logo. Above, as if shining down from the heavens, are the words "Coming Soon"—the same phrase tweeted by Samsung.

Just how soon remains a mystery, as does the product's launch date and carrier and market availability, not to mention the handset itself.

Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge got the Avengers render treatment two months ago, when a Korean tech news site published a seven-character lineup of GS6 Edge devices, featuring the likes of Thor, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Captain America, Hulk, and, of course, Iron Man.

But until today, Samsung has not officially acknowledged any plans for branded smartphones. If the upcoming gadget, however, is anything like those early mockups, it'll be red and gold and awesome—with Tony Stark's alter-ego stretching past the edge of the screen.

The tie-in—announced while Joss Whedon's Age of Ultron still reigns box office king—is entirely welcome, though not surprising. Samsung and Marvel announced a global brand partnership last summer, as part of the unveiling of the new Galaxy Tab S tablet lineup.

But so far, all consumers have gotten from the deal is a few months' access to the Marvel Unlimited mobile app.

Samsung released its next-generation flagship phones earlier this year. For more, see PCMag's reviews of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.

How much are you willing to shell out for an Iron Man-edition smartphone? What if it's shaped like the superhero? Or if Robert Downey Jr. comes inside the box? Let us know in the comments below.
