Pros & Cons

PureSim Baseball 2005 Specs

ESRB Rating: E for Everybody
Genre: Sports
Platform: PC

Running a fantasy league is easy—if not very exciting—with PureSim Baseball. Leagues are totally customizable: You can choose teams, regions, and schedules, and reshuffle all the major-league players with a full fantasy draft. (A separate download of the Lahman database—a standard database of baseball player statistics—is required.)

In Quick Sim mode, games can be played with no play-by-play and are over in a matter of seconds. In Watch PSPNcast mode, you view a graphical representation of each game. And you can take total control of game strategy and the lineup in Manage Game mode. Actual games are a bit of a yawn, but the software offers first-rate sortable statistical views. You can simulate multiple games at once, to move through the season quickly. And a novel touch is the autogenerated PSPN newsletter, which highlights the best performers in the league.
