Seesmic Desktop 2

When you first install Seesmic Desktop 2 on your PC or Mac, the application walks you through a few simple steps to set it up.

The most important step in setting up Seesmic is connecting it to your social media profiles, which includes Facebook, Foursquare, Google Buzz, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

When Seesmic is set up, this is the view you'll see most often: a selection of streams, customized to show you only what you want to see.

Plugins let you add the social networks and other add-ons that you want to your Seesmic account, helping you centralize all your online activity.

In the Seesmic Marketplace, you can find other sites and online membership groups that aren't core to the product but that you can integrate with Seesmic if you choose. Some include Flickr, Ning, Tumblr, Chatter, and Yammer.

If you use Klout, Seesmic can show you your Klout score in context with others'.

Seesmic includes a categorized directory for finding new content.

Hover over someone else's message or status update, and a few tools automatically appear. The options for interacting with this message, which was from Twitter, are reply to the sender (@), send a direct message (envelope), retweet the post (two 'L'-shaped arrows), or pull up a list of all posible functions (cog).

Seesmic allows you to customiz the background color or image.
