speaktoit-female.jpeg Yeah, yeah, yeah - We've seen the demos and got a peek of what the Siri Voice Assistant for the iPhone 4S can do. There is a good chance that iPhone 4S users will be "talking to their phones" as the app becomes mainstream.

Android users have been using most of Siri's functionality via the Voice Actions app...but there are some limitations, specifically how you voice commands to Voice Search - you have to speak slow and clear. Siri claims to let you use your natural speaking language to voice commands as well as ask not-so-specific commands (suggestions) for Siri to dig up answers to...and not just Google search results.

Speaktoit could be an Android user's answer to Voice Actions...and Siri as the go-to mobile voice assistant. Similar to Siri, Speaktoit reacts to human speaking style - It understands conversational context and isn't limited to a user's input of a specific string of keywords. Speaktoit also offers the same type of functionality:

- Send emails & texts
- Look up information, places, news, traffic & weather
- Post to Twitter & Facebook
- Check you in places
- Make Calls
- Take notes,
- Update calendar
- Translate foreign languages

...and more (like save notes to Evernote). One of the ways Speaktoit sets itself apart from Siri, and others like Dragon Dictation, Vlingo, Nuance and other is the app's personality. Instead of just looking an icon or some sound waves while you voice commands, you can create and customize an avatar giving the app (and possibly your phone) some attitude with different outfits, hairstyles, etc., or you can default to the plain old microphone.
