Right now your options for Switch docks are pretty limited. Nintendo really only wants you using the official dock, which is useless for Tabletop mode play. The kickstand on the back of the Switch is also less than great. You could opt for a third-party dock/stand, but you risk bricking your Switch.

Thankfully, Nintendo decided to fix the problem by offering us another stand to buy, only this one is cheap and really quite useful.

It's called the Adjustable Charging Stand for Nintendo Switch and costs $19.99. It improves on the kickstand integrated into the back of the Switch in a number of ways. For one, it's a lot more sturdy and the angle can be adjusted to suit the viewer.

Probably the most useful feature is the ability to charge your Switch while playing in Tabletop mode. Nintendo achieved this by adding a port on the side of the stand allowing an AC adapter to be plugged in while you play. Power is then transferred through the stand and into the charging port on the base of the Switch.

One feature that's missing is a HDMI port. Nintendo decided to make this a stand exclusively for Tabletop mode play. It would have been nice if it could also double as a full dock, but apparently we can't have everything for some reason.

If you want the Adjustable Charging Stand, Nintendo is going to keep us all waiting to buy one until July 13. If you need something to improve your Tabletop mode gaming until then, check out the Nyko Kick Stand.
