Nokia today unveiled the Lumia 925, which it said is a "new interpretation" of its earlier flagship Lumia 920 smartphone.
In the U.S., the Lumia 925 will be available exclusively on T-Mobile; customers can sign up now to be informed about its arrival. It will arrive in June in the U.K., Germany, Italy, Spain, and China, followed by the U.S. and a number of other markets, Nokia said.
The newest Lumia runs Windows Phone 8 and sports a 4.5 inch AMOLED, 1,280-by-768 display. There's a 1.5-GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and a 2000 mAh battery that supports wireless charging via an exterior case.
Nokia has incorporated its PureView technology into the Lumia 925, adding an 8.7-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, autofocus, LED flash, and Smart Camera mode, which lets the user capture 10 images at once and edit the shots to their liking. There's also 1080p HD video capture at 30fps and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing cam.
The 4G smartphone includes 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and 7GB of free Microsoft SkyDrive cloud storage.
The 925 is the first Lumia to feature a metal back, Nokia said, and the polycarbonate back will come in white, grey, or black. Wireless charging covers will come in white, black, yellow, and red.
Hipstamatic's new Oggl photo app will come pre-loaded on Lumia smartphones, Nokia said, as will its suite of apps like Here and Nokia Music.
The Lumia 925 launch comes shortly after Nokia unveiled the Lumia 928, which will be exclusive to Verizon. The 928 has similar specs to the 925 and will debut on May 16 for $99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year service contract.
