Apple's new iPod lineup is making its way to Apple Stores Wednesday. The iPod touch and shuffle are available now at Apple retail outlets, though users will have to wait a bit longer for the revamped nano.

"Introducing the new iPod touch. Now with FaceTime, Retina display, HD video recording, and Game Center," Apple said in an e-mail to customers. "Pick one up today at the Apple Retail Store or order online to get free engraving."

An employee at the Fifth Ave. Apple Store in Manhattan said the iPod touch and iPod shuffle were stock, but the nano was not yet available. She did not have details on when it would be in stores. Customers can order it online, however, and have it delivered within 3-5 business days, according to the Apple Web site.

Those who buy the iPod touch online will also have it within 3-5 business days, while the Pod shuffle will ship in 1-3 days, Apple said.

The new iPod touch is available in three models: an 8GB version for $229; a 32GB version for $299; and a 64GB version for $399.

An 8GB iPod nano is selling for $149 while a 16GB version retails for $179. A 2GB iPod shuffle is available for $49.

My Experience

I started out covering tech policy in DC for The National Journal, where my beat included state-level tech news and all the congressional hearings and FCC meetings I could handle. I later covered Wall Street trading tech before switching gears to consumer tech. I now lead PCMag's news coverage.

My Areas of Expertise

Getting my start in DC means I still have a soft spot for tech policy; Congressional hearings can sometimes be as entertaining as a Bravo reality show, for better or worse. But PCMag is all about the technology we use every day, as well as keeping an eye out for the trends that will shape the industry in the years ahead (or flop on arrival). I've covered the rise of social media, the iOS vs. Android wars, the cord-cutting revolution that's now left us with hefty streaming bills, and the effort to stuff artificial intelligence into every product you could imagine. This job has taken me to CES in Vegas (one too many times), IFA in Berlin, and MWC in Barcelona. I also drove a Tesla 1,000 miles out west as part of our Best Mobile Networks project. Of late, my focus is on our hard-working team of reporters at PCMag, guiding and editing their robust coverage.
