Travelers who don't want to incur costly data roaming fees are usually required to purchase an international roaming hotspot. We've reviewed several, and found them to be generally quite useful for data-hungry devices, with reasonable rates and daily data buckets.

Connected TravelerSkyroam, which has its own 4G LTE global Wi-Fi hotspot, is now offering a Monthly Unlimited Global Wi-Fi Subscription for $99 a month worldwide for use with its new Skyroam Solis hotspot or the original Skyroam hotspot.

In a few months, the price for the Solis will increase from $99 to $125 a month, so nab the lower price now. On both devices, you get unlimited 4G data for when daily data passes just won't cut it.

"We want to eliminate the hassles of staying connected both at home and abroad with on-demand Wi-Fi service available anytime, anywhere," said Jing Liu, Skyroam Founder and CEO.

In other regards, everything works the same as Skyroam's contract-free model. You'll need one of the Skyroam hotspots, either the older model or the newer Solis. The hotspot itself is SIM-free; with Skyroam's virtual SIM, you can connect up to five devices.

Skyroam's 24-hour Wi-Fi day passes and pay-as-you-go plans ($9.95/day to rent the hotspot or $149.99 to purchase) also aren't going anywhere. "Our mission is to make it easy, for people to align their dynamic mobile connectivity needs with where they're going, when they're going, and the length of their trip," said Liu. "Our new monthly portable Wi-Fi hotspot subscription offering solves a major pain point for anyone constantly on-the-go."

Skyroam also has a customizable business plan for employees, with streamlined billing that should make it easier to get your expense reports in.

We're testing the Skyroam Solis at Mobile World Congress, so stay tuned for our full review.
