Microsoft launched Xbox Game Pass on June 1 as a $9.99 per month subscription. Once signed up, Microsoft will unlock over 100 games for you to download and play on your Xbox One taken from both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 games libraries. And every month new games will be added while others are removed. You may need some extra storage for all those games, though, so Microsoft and Seagate teamed up to provide it.

Seagate is launching the Game Drive for Xbox Game Pass Special Edition external hard drive, which plugs into the USB port on your Xbox One. It's white and Xbox branded so as to fit right in sitting next to an Xbox One S. And as you'd expect, it's plug-and-play with the Xbox One automatically detecting the drive being connected and walking you through the setup process. It takes just a few minutes.

Seagate says the drive is easy to slip into a bag and requires no separate power cable or plug. That means visiting a friend's house (and remembering your Xbox Live login details) means you can play Xbox Game Pass games on any Xbox One using this hard drive.

Two versions of the Game Drive will be offered. The first is a 2TB model costing $89.99 and including one month of free access to Xbox Game Pass. There's also a 4TB model for $129.99 which includes two months of Xbox Game Pass access for free. Clearly if you can afford the extra cash, the 4TB model is better value and more convenient if you intend on downloading and playing a lot of games.

If the name Game Drive sounds familiar, it's because this isn't the first time Seagate has offered external storage for Xbox. The Game Drive for Xbox first appeared in 2015, the casing was Xbox green, and you could get 2TB of storage for $99.99.
