It's a good time to be an Amazon Prime member: Subscribers now receive 20 percent off new physical video games.

The discount applies during the pre-order period and two weeks after the title's release.

Amazon Prime also comes with free release-day delivery and a pre-order price guarantee.

That means any customer with an active free trial or paid Prime subscription can snag a copy of dozens of console games, including PS4's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End for $47 (reduced from $59) and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 on Xbox One for $55.97 (down from $69.96).

And don't fret if you just paid the full price Dark Souls III: Amazon's offer extends to members' existing pre-orders, according to the company's FAQ page.

There are a few catches, though: The promotion is valid for physical copies (including special editions) but not console bundles or digital versions. It is also available only for products sold and shipped directly from Amazon; don't expect a rebate from third-party sellers. Be sure to check the offer message on the game's page for eligibility.

The 20 percent discount is applied automatically at checkout.

As Polygon pointed out, the new Prime addition appears to be Amazon's answer to Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked program ($30 for two years), which also offers 20 percent off new games.

GameStop's similar PowerUp Rewards Pro initiative costs $15 per year, but does not include new-game discounts.

Amazon Prime, meanwhile, costs $99 per year for free two-day shipping, as well as access to Prime Video, Music, Photos, and the Kindle Owner's Lending Library.
