The Acura Precision Concept model revealed today points toward what the manufacturer calls a "bolder, more distinctive" future for vehicle design.

Nextcar Bug artUnveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, the conceptual car boasts high-contrast details and a new Diamond Pentagon grille. The car maker focuses heavily on aesthetic appeal, touting its "deeply sculpted side surfaces pouring over swelling rear wheel arches."

There are also wider wheels and tires, Jewel Constellation headlights, floating taillights, and the new, open grille—"the biggest and boldest expression of the Acura marque we've ever had," global creative director Dave Marek said during the Auto Show.

But the car's interior is meant to turn heads, as well. A wide, curved instrument panel features a retractable screen and always-visible navigational map—all part of Acura's digital assistant experience.

Using artificial intelligence, the car, for example, runs facial recognition to identify the motorist to customize his or her experience.

Acura also included a heads-up display for eyes-on-the-road driving, a compact race-inspired steering wheel, and five driving modes.

"There is no more clear promise for the Acura brand than Precision Crafted Performance," Vice President and General Manager Jon Ikeda said. "We're committed to infusing this core Acura promise into every facet of our products and every aspect of our relationship with the customer."
