Apple is making good on a promise to boost the iTunes Match song limit.

In June, executive Eddy Cue promised the company would increase the initial library ceiling from 25,000 to 100,000 with iOS 9. He later told MacRumors that it would arrive before the end of the year, and the blog has now confirmed that Cupertino has finally "started rolling out support for 100K libraries."

The expansion extends to iTunes Match, which compares your song collection to Apple's library of tunes and plays any matches without requiring a download. It also covers the iCloud Music Library and Apple Music, according to Macworld's Kirk McElhearn.

Each service counts all tracks not purchased from the iTunes Store (i.e. CD rips, Apple Music downloads) against the user's total. So, for music buffs, the 25,000 song limit could be a real bummer. The ability to broaden that to 100,000 is surely welcome relief to many—especially folks carrying a 16GB iDevice.

Apple did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment; the Apple Music support page does not yet reflect Cupertino's changes.

Apple Music debuted on June 30 alongside iOS 8.4, and the $9.99-per-month service racked up more than 6.5 million paying customers by October. That number has likely increased give last month's launch of a beta version for Android. For more, see PCMag's reviews of iTunes and Apple Music.
